Madonna & Otto Von Wernherr – In The Beginning

The song “stay”, alone, is worth the price of admission for this album.
Stephen also does an extraordinary job of recreating ‘crimes of passion’ to protect the innocent ?
Fun songs that give us a sonic history of Madonna and Stephen’s evolution. Far cry from ‘keep it Together’ and ‘express Yourself’—but so is ‘Into the groove’. The simplicity of the songs make them incredibly potent to listen to.
Be sure to have an open mind for the reworked demos of songs that ended up on her first Album.
I think ‘burning up’ is equally as good as the album version (and the 12” remix).
Somebody else mentioned Stay and ‘don’t you know as being demos of like a virgin’s ‘stay’ (which some consider a massively undervalued Madonna song). However, I think this version of stay is better and has a grittier more vulnerable-emotive vocal that is pure Madonna.
Back in 97, it was like having a new Madonna album—post-Evita— and before ‘ray of light’ was released a year later.
