Suede – Sci-Fi Lullabies (Clear Vinyl)

New, Still Sealed. Clear Vinyl, RSD 2022

It is extremely rare for any artist to be able to generate a B-Sides compilation. Few can pull that off successfully, especially since most would be lucky to even manage to produce a solid greatest-hits album throughout their career. Which only makes this collection extra special, considering the fact that it arrived just 5 years into Suede’s career. “Sci-fi lullabies” is a monumental music release in many ways, surely not just because of its sheer volume. The quality of this 27-song 2-disc opus is breathtaking, showcasing some killer cuts, many of which are just as good as anything the band ever did, with not one track being either out of place nor substandard. This seamless collection is perhaps the only record released in the last 2 decades that could easily be a band’s finest moment in their discography, without it being a standard album release but, instead, a simple gathering of songs that accompanied regular A single releases. I could further argue that this is even better than their “Singles” retrospective (because it is!). Adamant proof that Suede have been Britain’s most exciting and talented music group of the britpop era, “Sci-fi lullabies” is 100% brilliant, and 150% essential to anyone who wishes to indulge on a timeless piece of musical excellence. Kitchen sink glamour cannot – and will never – get any better than this, fact!
