Alex Taylor – Dinnertime

49,99

The cover is Still in Shrink, Promo Corner Cut, hence the NM listing.

Alex Taylor’s blues throat couldn’t be more unlike his singing siblings, James, Kate, and Livingston. As far away from a sensitive singer/songwriter as could be, Taylor gives the blues treatment to classics like Howlin’ Wolf’s “Who’s Been Talkin'” as well as to songs by contemporary writing greats, from Randy Newman (“Let’s Burn Down the Cornfield”) to Bob Dylan (“From a Buick Six”), as well as by lesser-knowns like Jesse Winchester (“Payday”). With searing guitars and evocative organ at work, the record serves as a sampler of what was going on at Muscle Shoals and Ardent Studios in the early ’70s and captures the Memphis soul sound of the era. This is his second recording for Capricorn.
