Original issue sounds great and a definite remix of the whole album, not a remaster only job. It’s apparent as well with the 79 disc as the drums are completely fatter and upfront on the reissued discs, the whole mix is one of the best live if not recorded for clarity and headroom ever heard by my ears. As for the salvaged lost tracks being as great or better than the original version is sadly not true. It’s from the monitor console, that is first to unscramble the quality, that’s the stage sends to each wedge on stage which is drastically different for each musician and its direct to the recording source which I don’t know what it is, 2, 4, 8, 16 track? Your ability to hear what you’re tracking on deck from monitor world is almost impossible unless you’re two people, one to do their job and watch the band and be ready to adjust their mixes immediately and then cue your headphones and hear what’s being tracked and find it’s clean and uncluttered, it is a hit or miss and you’re going to miss almost every time. Numan’s vocals are distorted, very easy to hear this problem. It’s not a unlistenable flaw but it’s misleading to automatically state your opinion of this being superb without critical listening techniques and have actually been, done and worked these situations and this is where you learn what is fact and is fictional from the average listener to the person who creates the origin for the performer to provide the performance for the average listener. I don’t know how to work on cars, I don’t tell you the state of the fuel pump without having a educated real life understanding of a fuel pump or engine. The set is worth having 80 and it’s great remix official release. The bonus discs are not auditory excellence. All due respect, it’s for the Numan completist and honest opinions are great, facts are facts. I see one factual review and now I support them.
