Virgil Fox ‎– The Fox Touch Volume Two

49,99

Recorded At – Garden Grove Community Church, Garden Grove, CA

As with the first one, this is recorded on the trinity baptist church, later to become the crystal cathedral. As is the first one, it was recorded with a new (for the time) method that brings out the crispness of the instrument as no other recording did before. Pipe organ are very hard to record because of the pipe placement, and because of the differences in pipe pressure. The smaller pipes that give the higher pitch sound aren’t as loud as the larger pedal pipes but use more air pressure, so if the mic’s are too close, you hear the air sound along with the sound of the pipe, which takes away from the recording. The organ is played by the master Virgil Fox, who was and still is the unquestioned king of the pipe organ, even tho he has been gone for many years now. It was recorded without any breaks between the pieces which is very hard even for someone in the best of health which Virgil was not at the time. In pain most of the time from cancer, he still gives an excellent performance. He also designed the additions that were later made to the organ, which greatly increased its versatility and performance. Unfortunately, he passed away before it was completed. This is a must have for collectors as well as Virgil Fox fans or just those who appreciate the sound of the king of instruments.
