“The recordings on this album were made … on a home tape recorder for the personal enjoyment and edification of a few of Bird’s faithful fans and followers. The recordings, although suffering from lack of being technically recorded (there was no such thing as “hi-fi” in them days!) are priceless because of their content, capturing some of the magnificent moments in the blowing career of this musical genius, which, but for the sake of a second-hand Pentron [tape reorder] would be lost for all time.”
